Safety

The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, consisted of two islands, is taken for relatively safe country. Despite this fact, you can sporadically meet some demonstrations of calm character. Small criminality is on standard level. So, you are recommended to avoid deserted places in the night (such as beaches, non-illuminated localities, etc.). Travelling from the airport, do not use public means of transport, such as minibuses or buses.

The international driving licence is valid for time period of one year. The traffic of Trinidad and Tobago is organized on left part of the road but motor vehicles with wheels on left part are permitted. The use of safety belts is obligatory, provided it is not kept, this fact is punished with a penalty. As a curiosity, most of local drivers signal a change of direction drive by hand.

The laws, catching smuggling of drugs are very severe (the punishments move in range of five up to fifteen years of prison, and no chance of pre-mature setting free).
