Sanatorium Edel, Zlaté Hory
Sanatorium Edel is situated in afforested countryside of Jeseníky Mountains, in the town of Zlaté Hory, Region of Olomouc, in an altitude of 410 metres above sea level.
The beginnings of spa activity in Zlaté Hory come to the second half of 19th century. At that time, local native discovered, making attempts with pine-needles, a solution, used for treatment of various diseases. From his medical institution, town´s spa was founded. So, in 1879, there was created water-treatment forest sanatorium. Its founder was Karel Anjel, Prague´s doctor. The first spa treatment building was solemny open fro public in 1881. Except of water-treatment procedures, the massages, electro-treatment and rehabilitation were used.
At present, this healing equipment serves as children sanatorium for treatment of respiration diseases and chronical illnesses of breathing apparatus. As natural healing sources, there belong, no doubt, climatic conditions of Jeseníky Mountains, fresh and clean air, as well as speleotherapy in reconstructed and in sporting way adapted underground spaces of closed ore mines, 93 metres deep, with constant temperature of 8 °C, and 100% of humidity.
