Nerby the river: Ohře
Water work Nechranice is situated on Ohře-river between towns of Kadań, Chomutov and Žatec. Water surface has an extention of 1338 ha approx. and it is the sixth biggest dam-reservoir in Czech Republic. Except of this, it is a dam with longest strewed pier in Central Europe, measuring 3280 m. This water-work was constructed during 1961-1968, originally for industrial purposes. The dam served as water reservoir (supply) for neighbouring power stations in Tušimice.
At present, it lives through an important development in tourist traffic area. A part was declared as Bird Area, it forms Natura 2000 system.
Nechranice dam (southern bank in locality Vikletice) offers camping places and accommodation possibilities in cottages and chalets as well as in tents and caravans at present.
Near Nechranice dam you find important historical towns of Kadań, Podbořany and Žatec, offering better accommodation possibilities.
