Slovakia

Slovakia is a typical inland republic, located in Central Europe. Its capital is Bratislava. The country borders with Poland, Ucraine, Hungary, Austria and Czech Republic (with this country has common history). Slovakia, as an independent state, was founded on 1st January 1993.

The country started its independence with quite good „dot“, in a form of developed industry and economy.

Country spine is formed with Carpathian Mountain Arch, the highest point of which is Gerlachovka Peak (2655 m). It is the highest point of High Tatra Mountains granite massif, bordered on east part with limestone range Belianske Tatra whereas on west part with West Tatra Mountain Range. Whole Tatra territory was declared as Tatra National Park (TANAP).

South of the country is formed with Danube-lawlands. It is very important centre of agriculture production. Arable land presents 30% approx., cleared land makex 40% approx.., rest is completed with meadows and pasture-lands.

Danube-river forms a part of south frontier. It is an important water way, connecting Black Sea with North Sea. The country is rich in brown-coal, lignite and iron ore mining. There are also to be found here many thermal and mineral water springs. These sources are used, first of all, for healing purposes by local population as well as by visitors from abroad. Slovak Republic became popular country for tourists, thanks to its healing springs, nature beauties, reservations, national parks and people-folklor traditions.
