The Giant Mountains are spreaded in North-East Bohemia at the border with Poland. This mountain range is the highest one of Czech Republic. Sněžka (1602 m) is the highest peak of this range, and of Czech Republic at the same time. The Giant Mountains were declared in 1963, thanks to big number of scarse sorts of plants and animals, as National Park.

Pec pod Sněžkou is a small town situated on northeastern part of Czech Republic.
It is an important centre of tourist movement.
You ride down the hill to the valley. Surrounding you are green hills. White buildings of local automobile factory brighten you. These are the halls of Skoda car company. Since 2012, gearboxes have been produced there. However, we go further into the center. The main landmark in Vrchlabi is St Vavrinec church. Its belfry hardly fits within the lens cope of a camera.
Do you wonder where to spend an Advent weekend? Should you be near the Krkonose mountains or somewhere around, visit the quiant village of Ponikla. There are two amazing places close to each other. You will feel the amazing historic atmosphere of the life of our ancestors who lived a harsh life in the mountains. You will learn what they did, what worries and joys they experienced. You will learn that te life was often complicated but locals knew how to enjoy it.
On the western edge of Janske Laze, in the direction of Cerny Dul, another tree trail was opened one year ago. It is the third wooden lookout tower going up into the clouds in the Czech Republic. Similar buildings are enjoying popularity in Germany.
It does not exist any most popular locality, as far as ski-jumping or ski-fly are concerned, as Harrachov in Giant Mountains. Despite the fact that jumping area looks rather deserted during working days, you can feel always sporting spirit of this important mountain resort on each step.
A climb on the highest Czech mountain should do every patriot at least once in lifetime. Sněžka is a point of interest mostly in summer but in winter this small Czech Everest is even more enchanting, isn’t it…?
