Poděbrady Spa is situated in plain-land Polabí, Central Bohemia Region, in an altitude of 190 metres above sea level, nearly in the centre of Czech Republic. The town of the same name was established at watering place across Labe-river in 1224. Later, there was here constructed (in second half of 13th century) stone Gothic castle, reconstructed later in chateau, as a seat of Bohemian sovereigns. In 17th century, there was founded, on a spring of water, small spa, known as „Ferriferous Spa“. Nevertheless, next important historical land-mark comes in 1905. On castle courtyard, there was discovered and excavated, (from depth of 96,7 metres) strong mineral spring, containing iron and oxyde carbonic. So, spa development was started. First spa saison was effected in 1908.

At present, not only healing water and mud-bath mineral formation, but also very strong spring of alcalic-mineral water, containing magnesia, calcium and oxyde carbonic are being used to treatment purposes. Nature mineral water „Poděbradka“ is world known. Poděbrady Spa is specialized for treatment of heart diseases, diseases of circulating apparatus and moving apparatus. The spa is named as an oasis of quiet and pleasure. Forests surrounding the town as well as historical city nucleus offer to visitors enough possibilities for entertainment as well as for leasure time spending.
