As to its area belongs to bigger regions. It is situated in centre of Bohemia, fully surrounding Prague, the capital.

The region is rich on many important and valuable monuments, from historical point
of view. You can find here numerous castles, well-known is Karlštejn. Remarkable there are the other numerous castles, protected landscape and geological areas, including Koněprusy caves, sandstone rocks, rocky ravines vast forests, fertile plains and memorable mountain of Říp.
Many towns in the region have medieval historical centre. Kutná Hora is an example of the town placed on list of International Heritage UNESCO.
The region offers the visitors nice and interesting countryside, touristic places of interest, places for relax or water sports activity on Dam of Orlík or Dam of Slapy.
