Praděd - Ovčárna Ski Area

Praded is the highest peak of Jeseníky Mountains (1492 m). On its top, you find TV sender, 162 metres high, with look out tower (it is the highest point of Czech Republic). The look out tower is open for public all year round.

All area of Jeseníky Mountains has very good conditions for skiers. The snow appears here at the end of October and it is to be kept there till the beginning of May. So, near to Ovčárna, you can find seven ski descent routes, of all possible difficulty stages, its total length exceeds 4 kms. The terrains are suitable for beginners as well as for experienced skiers. You can use six ski-towages, with transfer capacity of 5190 persons in an hour.

So, you can find here four blue ski descent routes, suitable for ski-beginners. Ski slope Petrovy kameny (Peter´s Stones) B - blue is 600 metres long, exceeding 130 m. Petrovy kameny C - blue - is 800 metres long, exceeding 120 m. Malý Václavák route - blue - is 550 metres long, exceeding 110 m. Moreover, you find there two red slopes, such as: Petrovy kameny C - with 610 m length, exceeding  120 m. Ski slope D is 350 metres long, exceeding 110 m. The last one - black slope - Petrovy kameny A - is 750 metres long, exceeding 200 m.

As far as ski runners are concerned, they can find here also ideal conditions. Praděd-Ovčárna area is suitable more for beginners, who intend to make an excursion. Provided the experienced skier would prefer to make some longer excusrion, it is no problem to visit the surrounding places, such as from Praděd across Červenohorské sedlo, Kouty nad Desnou and Švýcárna back to Ovčárna.

However, the transfer possibility towards Ovčárna is rather limited. The whole area is situated inside protected countryside, so the entrance is limited. You can use regular pendular bus transport from  Hvězda motorest  parking place. Tickets could be obtained at Figura hotel.
