Blovice
On place of previous stronghold, mentioned in documents around 1545, you find today on this place the castle of Hradiště, built in 1704. In 1873 the castle was reconstructed in Neo-Baroque style. An English park belongs to the castle, too.
In a castle you find the Museum of Southern Pilsen-Surroundings. You can admire there folks national costumes, the noble- rooms, archaelogical and literary collections. The church of St.John Evangelist is situated on place of Gothic church of 14th century. Within the 19th century
there was put in front facade six statues of Czech Saint Patrons. On a square there is a statue of St.John Nepomuk, which is one of oldest of this saint in Czech Republic. It was made in 1729, before his canonization..
As to local important natives: it is Adolf Opper de Blowitz (28.12.1825-18.1.1903). He made and wrote the interviews with important European personalities.
