Playa Canoya - Wild Beach With Surfers

North part of island´s coast is rather merciless and wild. From this reason, all beaches are concentrated to south part. Nevertheless, you can see delightful scenes (performances) from Mother Nature, which could be shocking. Local waves are so big and numerous, as if somebody threw away it in endless process. Anyway, these are ideal conditions for surfing. This beach is very popular among surfists, and in general with persons, who prefer hard emotions and uneasy liveliness. If the lovers of water sports enter into heavy waves, they do not have any objection the effected work on unregular surface with nearly invisible rocks.

Just beside the beach, one small lagoon is to be found, attacked many times with wild and violent sea. Its water is changed many times. Many sea - hedgehogs and other crustaceans found their home here. Moreover, you can find here also many stones, especially in the right direction from sea-side. Nevertheless, a lot of curious persons and tourists (not crowds of people, of course) come here to watch the environs. Although the waves resound tempestously, the banks seem to be quite calm. Small number of people meet here, admiring local beauty. The company could be done to you by couple of cows, small herd of goats, lizards and some hares. Nevertheless, you will be shocked with cactusses: small, great, gigantic, many times spreaded in such way, that you can cry: „It is really cactus tree!“

All this area is one of open nature places, where the entrance is completely free of charge for visitors. Inside this picturesque countryside, you can find typical restaurant with sea-food specialities and sea-delicatesses (however, the restaurant is not open daily!).

Thanks to great windy conditions, a small windy farm is placed here, and the people come here with pleasure to fly a kite. And even wind turbines are built here, one behind each other. Curacao Island is of volcanic origin. It is situated in south-west part of Caribbean Sea, seventy kilometres distant from South America mainland only. The island is extended on surface of 444 square kilometres. Island´ s form is characteristic with its extended formation, where most wide place measures 14 kilometres, and its length makes 61 kilometres. Thanks to vicinity to the equator, tropical climate is prevailing here, characteristic with fully sunny days, with average temperature of 30°C. The precipitations are minimal, but they are slowly increasing in the course of past couple of years.
