CZ, Rudice – Unknown Gem of the Moravian Karst – VIDEO
Rudice is located about 9 km from Blansko and about 2 km from Jedovnice. Its biggest attraction is mainly the unique karst phenomenon Rudické propadání. The water of the Jedovnický brook falls to a depth of up to 90 meters and the local underground hides one of the largest waterfalls in the Czech Republic. The Rudická abyss is also located in the cave - the deepest dry abyss in our country.
The sinkhole also includes one of the largest cave spaces in the Czech Republic, the Giant Dome. The whole complex is connected through the so-called Serbian Siphon with the Bull Rock and together they form a 13-kilometer-long cave system, the second longest in our country after the Amateur Cave.
Unfortunately, the caves of Rudický propadání are not open to the public, but visit the place where Jedovnický stream plunges into the ground. Here, too, a unique karst nature awaits you and at least a look into the darkness of the cave system.
In addition, you will see the Kolíbky rock complex along the way. A rock complex that you may know from the fairy tale Seven Ravens. In addition, the local rocks are very popular among climbers and it is also an important archaeological site.
Directly in the village then visit the windmill with a speleological exhibition and the unique chapel of St. Barbora. Don't miss a walk around the Seč kaolin quarry. Layers of colored quartz and iron sands, together with white clay, form an exotic landscape that at times resembles the planet Mars. Entry to the quarry is prohibited for safety reasons, but there is a trail around with views of the entire area.
You can definitely connect a visit to Rudice with the most important localities of the Moravian Karst, and you will find Macocha only a few kilometers away..
