Milovice Bunker: Strictly Watched Place

All materials for bunker construction were transpored by railway directly from Moscow. This would be really secret mission. „Heavy technics was alluded outside the town from Milovice railway station. The Russians transported away tons of iron-concrete, just in front of eyes of local inhabitants. So, it was impossible to conceal something!“ - Aleš Kubeš, retired officer and foremer Mayor, explains.

So, you can follow wide pannel way towards Russian fortification. Nevertheless, hundreds of metres in distance from the bunker, (where you could not see it) semi-destroyed rifle-range could be found. Soviet soldiers effected there, even within 1990, very strict controls of everybody who approached there. According to the information of Aleš Kubeš (retired officer and former Mayor of Milovice) the Russians did not permitted the entrance even former Defence Minister, General Vacek. The bunker, including all safe system, took altogether four hectars of forest space.

Pine forest changed to „antenna forest“

„Can you see this one?“ Mr.Kubeš asks, and shows some iron subject inserted in the earth. „So, gigantic antenna was placed there. The antennas were everywhere. All this reminded „antenna forest“!“ Mr.Kubeš remembers the period, when, shortly after Russians´ exit, investigated military terrain. Commanding-staff bunker of connective character was constructed, not far from Milovice, within 1980-1985. „The bunker was directly joined with Moscow and surrounding military units!“, Mr.Kubeš says. The Russsians surrounded the space with couple of kilometres of barbed wire, and let to heal it up the grass. The environment was controlled with several watch towers. Even now, the view reminds the power of Russian great world power. On the other hand, this construction does not remind the bunkers, built along the borders before 2nd World War.

Military secret for ever

The traces of tyres were put into asphalt surface in bottom of gigantic hall. „At first, we were of the opinion that mobil nuclear weapons on chassis were put there. Anyway, we came to the end that if it would be really like this, so the weapons were transported here without heads. The heads were placed in other military area, in Bělá pod Bezdězem!“ Mr. Kubeš explains.  Nevertheless, only the Russians knew the truth. They destroyed or took away all technical documentation with.

System of corridors is made on earth surface only. The Russians painted bunker entrails with yellow-blue decoration. Inside, you can feel, except the dark, cold and humidity, which raises very unpleasant feelings. One of rooms, close to the entrance, served obviously for disinfection of new soldiers.

The bottom of all rooms and corridors is led with shafts. The Russians put there hundreds of metres of cables, and a water conduits, of course. On ceilings of several rooms (nobody knows the reason, they served), the Russian soldiers fitted up metal traps. „So called operation room was one of most important places inside bunker. Staff officers drew on linen all alternatives (possibilities) which could occur in a fight, and the respective explanations followed!“, Mr. Kubeš means. So, tens of persons were forced to use four WC cabins and small bathroom only. On glazed tiles, you can read clearly readable insciption, paying attention: Save the water!
