SK, Trenčín Region – The Kingdom of Matúš Čák IV
But in addition to winter sports, it offers agritourism and bike paths. One of the oldest landmarks of the village is a Roman Catholic church from 1863. The surroundings are completed by picturesque nature and rock formations called Mojtín Gate, through which flows a stream. The Mojtín Cave, which hides a church, is also interesting. Ladislav Škultéty-Gabriš, who served in the army for 81 years, comes from Mojtín
We will stay in the Strážovské vrchy, because our next tip will be the Glass Open-Air Museum (Glass Dream) in the village of Valaská Belá. It is the only open-air museum of this kind in the whole of Slovakia. The open-air museum consists of a glass workshop where visitors can learn about the history of glassmaking. The real experience is watching the production of glass and its shaping with period techniques with your own eyes. However, you must book the tour in advance.
On hot days, it is good to cool down again. Therefore, go to Zelená voda near Nové Mesto nad Váhom. This large body of water was created about 30 years ago at a gravel mining site. The groundwater from Váh seeping through the gravel base thus created a unique natural swimming pool, which has no analogues in the Trenčín region. Today, it is also popular with fishermen, lovers of windsurfing and other water sports. During the summer season, various cultural, sporting and social events take place here.
Finally, we invite you to bike. The most important cycle path in the region is the so-called middle section of the Vážská biking route, which connects the city of Trenčín with the Žilina region. The whole route leads mainly along the roads on the right side of the river Váh - from the historic center of Trenčín, then through the local part of Zamarovce, around the Calvary, through the villages Nemšová, Bolešov, Borčice, Kameničany, Pruské, where there is a crossing with other bike routes.
The Vážská bike route continues through Horovce, Lednické Rovne to the town of Púchov, from where it goes through the village of Nimnica around the Nosice reservoir to Považská Bystrica. The entire middle section ends at the village of Mikšová, from where the cycle route continues to the Žilina Region.
The lower section of the Vážská bike route connects the towns of Piešťany and Trenčín.
