Today we will visit the town of Šurany, a town of nearly 10 thousand, surrounded by the beautiful natural scenery of the Danube Plain. It offers the magnificent Parish Church of St. Stephen the First Martyr with its two Baroque towers, the Orthodox synagogue now serving as the town's museum and a wooden bell tower built in 1872. In addition to the above-mentioned sights, there is also a site of European importance known as the Slovak Troja or the Chateau, where the famous statue of the Venus of Hrádec was found.

On one winter weekend we traveled to the region of Nitra. Our destination was the town of Podhajska. Its train station is located between Nove Zamky and Levice towns. The name comes from its location on southern slopes of the Pohronska Upland. Its hills sit on the flat and are covered with beautiful oak and locust groves.
