This river sources on southwest slope of Oravská Magura Mountains. At first, it flows in southwest direction. Anyway, near to the community of Zázrivá, it turns to the south and southeast, and this direction is practically maintained up to its mouth into Orava-river, near to the community of Párnica. Its river basin takes 95 square kilometres, the length of navigable section makes 16 kms.
Zázrivka is typical mountain torrent with narrow, stony river-bed and great slope. Quickly streaming water creates along whole passable section nice rapids. In its upper section, the river is 5-6 metres wide, it enlarges consequently, so that it has, at its mouth, the width of 10-12 metres. There are two weirs, passable during high water level. Nevertheless, it is recommandable to check the situation in advance. However, camping places are missing here, owing to short flow section. The river is suitable for experience watermen, using covered boats (vessels).
