Lower Austria – A Region of Amazing Exhibitions and Festivals
First we will recommend you a unique exhibition at Schloss Hof and Niederweiden chateaux. The title of the exhibition is What the World Is? It is a first part of a three year long exhbition series which will intriduce you to history, the present, and the future of foo. It captures the transition from hunter gatherin society, to agriculture and domestication of animals. It documents usage of artificial fertilizers and also genetic engineering. The exhibition shows that there is more to eating than to absorbing nutricients. What, where, how much we eat are expressions of culture, world-opinion, ideas of the world, lifestyle, traditions, habits, wealth, poverty, gender, and age.
„Byzantine and the West“ is another exhibition. This takes you 1000 years back in time. The venue is Castle Schallaburg, Schollach (district of Melk). Two worlds which trust one another will be presented yet these worlds are vastly different. You will tour West Roman Empire and East Roman Empire aka Byzantine empire. You will see precious items, ingenious use of skills, and get to know fascinating stories.
Warm days are approaching. Therefore, visit Garden Summer 2018 in Tulln an der Donau. Till the end of September, you can see international garden fair which features the first ecological gardening exhibition in Europe which will go by the name Garten Tulln. Another important place here will be the town hall/Minorite covent featuring „#TullnART – Garden of Artists“. You will enjoy group bike rides, walks on meadows, interesting breakfasts in gardens, guided town tours (in English and German) or gardening workshops.
Don't forget to visit amazing open-air gallery La Gacilly – World in Pictures in Baden near Vienna. This large gallery features 35 illustrated stories by the theme "People and their natural environment". These will transform Baden into one huge gallery from June 8 to September 30. From Josefplatz across Main square, Old Town of Baden to Brusattiplatz, down Scholssergasse to Doblhoffpark, through orangery, and rosarium. "La Gacilly Baden Photo“ festival will cover all these places. All will be fre to access and create the most beautiful open-air gallery in Europe. Public space will change into work ofart.
At the end, we invite you to Grafenegg festival featuring huge open-air scene. This will take place from July 21 to September 9 in the town of the same name. The festival is about to be highlight of music in Lower Austriasummer. Listen to Viennese waltzs, Hollywood music, magical sounds of Baroque music or Bach by drum and bass. Tonkünstler-Orchester and other amazing bands and great orchestras. Live your summer Saturdays in great environment of amusement park.
