To people who like to spend the night in the valley we recommend to stay at Raxalpenhof. There is an amazing herb  garden. Make time for a short visit at Wartholz chateau. This former emperor's villa has an idyllic park unveiling you a beautiful view over the Rax mountains. An elegant cafe in the old chateau garden will lure you in to stay a bit longer.

Payerbach is another place worth making a trip to. Semmerin railroad which belong to UNESCO's world cultural heritage and Schwarza viaduct are landmarks you can see there. The viaduct fascinated us for its 13 vault arches. Personally, we recommend you to visit the Wineduct, i.e. wine shops inside Schwarza viaduct. Inside them you can taste wines originating in the area spanning from Vienna down to Terst. And we could go on and on in our recommendations...
