High Tatra Mountains are one of most beautiful and popular area of tourist movement of Slovak Republic. The mountains are to be found in north part of the country, along borders with Poland. The mountain range offers suitable conditions fro mountaineering, skiing as well as realx.
Gerlach Peak (2655 m) is situated nearly in the centre of mountain range.

If you will travel through north road-line from west to the east of Slovakia (or vice versa) and will not be in a hurry, and would like to reflect on, which sightseeings will be worth to visit (or where you wish to have a rest for relax), so we have one reference for you: would you leave the highway at exit Liptovsky Hrádok and drive in direction to Pribylina.
From the list of cities we traveled throughout on our way from Prague to High Tatras Poprad seems to be one of the most beautiful cities. Its beauty is even bigger thanks to a background performed by High Tatras, hanging above the city as some kind of poster.
Small diversion from Muráň plainland did not disturbed at all the plans of our active holiday, which continues in Low Tatra Mountains. The distance from Brezno to a top of the massif, dominating with Ďumbier Peak, is not great.
Beauty and pain, this is an actual picture of highest Slovakian mountains. The gale which run about across Tatra Mountains, cut its non-effaced message into this well-known countryside.
During the Indian summer in the Tatry mountains was interesting event “Tatry photo marathon”, where he could sign on anyone regardless of age or photographic skills. City of Vysové Tatry is in terms of cadastral area the largest city in the Slovak Republic. It consists by fourteen settlements, of which perhaps the best known and most sought after tourist are two villages called Smokovec.
In Stary Smokovec in the High Tatras there was ceremonial opening of the Alpine Clubhouse in the beginning of May. It is a great place for everyone who likes being in mountains. The Clubhouse interconnects relaxation, knowledge and services not only for mountaineers.
The Tatranian National Park offers many beauties. High and steep mountains, deep valleys, majestic falls, unseen beautiful fauna and flora and also beautiful things hidden in depths of the area such as various caves. Only one of them, though, is open to the public.
As many other places in the High Tatras (2314 meters) even Bystre Sedlo is not that well known among tourists. Perhaps, it is given to the fact that there is no cottage that would offer tourists some refreshments after being whole day on food. Or, perhaps, the route is not leading to any of the High Tatras’ peaks. There are only a few people but you will definitely enjoy your time in untouched Tatran nature.
The one who loves adventure and is reasonably physically fit, undoubtedly would like a few tips about easy winter hikes Velka Studena Valley, located in the Slovak part of the High Tatras. A year-round open cottage, Zbojnicka Chata (1960 meters), which waits for us in this valley, offers a place to rest, refreshment and cozy accommodation. We can spend here a few days without getting away from the surrounding of Tatranian peaks. Keep in mind, however, that the motion in the Tatras in winter outside marked trails is very limited according to the TANAP rules!
Soon winter closure of Tatranian tourist trails (15th June 2014) weill end. Therefore, in advance we bring you an interesting alpine hike trip. Our goal today is the peak of the peaks, the symbol of Slovakia – majestic Krivan in the High Tatras.
I spent two day in the High Tatras while on my way from Kosice and east Slovakia. I was lucky to spend there the most beautiful days of autumn. Even though sun shined only in the morning the weather was very good. It did not rain, snow, and it was not cold nor hot. Perfect when you go to mountains.
Just at the end of last year, I came to an understanding with my friend that this year's St. Valentine holiday we would prepare for our partners an unrepeatable experience in a form of so called „long weekend“ in High Tatra Mountains.
Provided you do not wish to travel in far destination at seaside areas (with sun-bath in overcrowded beaches), so, we have a tip for interesting and active holiday, where you can visit many attractive and romantic corners of Slovakia or Czech Republic.
No doubt, a church tower belongs inseparably to typical silhouette of historical town of Spišská Nová Ves. Its gallery was open for public couple of years ago. So, when favourite weather allows, it would be worth to burn some calories and to mount several stages upstairs, in order to enjoy such unique outlook.
A majestic shield of Kriváň Peak (2494 m) is not the highest in Slovakia but, no doubt, it is most known and popular among the other Tatra Peaks.
