Italy: Caorle Summer Resort

Caorle has approx. ten thousand of inhabitants. It is placed in distance of 50 kilometres, north-east direction from Venice. Sometimes, Caorle could be compared to „Small Venice“. Anyway, this locality is completely different, with its ancient narrow streets and picturesque squares,
from substantively younger and modern boulevards of busy summer resorts, such as Bibione, for instance.
Famous history, coming to era B.C., is confirmed with many remarkable monuments, first of all, with dominanta of historical nucleus (Centro storico). It is, first of all, one thousand years old San Stefano Church (Il Duomo), with its typical, 48 metres high cylindrical tower of Romanesque style. Internal decoration is very rare. It is golden altar (Pala d´oro) and many other sacral objects, including reliquaries with earthly remains of saints or a clay, where a blood of tortured Jesus Christ was allegedly soaked in.
Santuario della Madonna dell´Angelo
Narrow medioeval streets lead from city centre towards the embankment, where another popular and well known building, known as Sanctuary, is to be found. Officially, this church with angular tower is named as Santuario della Madonna dell´Angelo. Inside, you will be thunderstruck with wall frescos and rich decoration of Baroque style. Along the quay, it is worth to have a stop in a section, where the artists create very interesting works during sculptors´ meetings (Scoligera scolpita sul lungomare).
It is true that this small town of Caorle does not belong to summer resorts of Bibione type, busy during summer season only. Outside summer, these localities are completely dead. On the other hand, the life in Caorle is pulsing all year round, but, frankly speaking, since May till September, local movement is very busy, indeed. The entertainment for guests and vistors is secured by means of numerous attractions, such as: water parks and Lunaparks, sporting halls, old fishing or yacht port. From here, the tourists are offered the sea-excursions, including participation on morning fishing, or a visit at fishermen reed homes in the lagoon, tasting typical sea specialities.
Caorle beach is eight kilometres long. In direction to Venice, the next summer resorts are following regularly, such as. Porto Santa Margerita, (divided from Caorle by Livenza small torrent), Duna Verde and Eraclea Mare.
