CZ, The Land of Landa – Into the Fairy Tale
Published: 11.8.2019
For the next few weeks will guide you through the micro-region located between Prague and the Sázava River. A total of 24 municipalities joined in 2000 to create a fairy-tale area whose name is named after one of the greatest personalities of Czech culture - the painter and writer Josef Lada.
The region of Lada is characterized by the romantic hilly landscape that Josef Lada captured in his stunning work. The author of the world-renowned tomcat Mikeš and other talking animals, water sprites and good soldier Švejk drew inspiration from this distinctive region all his life. We decided to become part of the ubiquitous magical nature at least for a moment.
Among the municipalities of Lada region include Černá Voděrady, Čestlice, the author's native Hrusice, Kaliště, Kamenice, Klokočná, Kostelec u Křížků, Kunice, Louňovice, Mirošovice, Mnichovice, Mukařov, Nupaky, Ondřejov, Říčany, Senohraby, Struhařov, Světice, Svojetice, Tehov, Tehovec, Velké Popovice, Všestary and last but not least Zvánovice.
Of course, we did not manage to visit all of the above-mentioned places, but it was still worth it. We had wonderful hiking trails, quite demanding bike paths, water attractions, golf courses, industrial buildings, chateaux, castles and a zoo.
During our stay we could set out on the way of tomcat Mikeš, explore the landscape of Baron Ringhoffer, move through the region without barriers, experience Vodnická walks or follow the footsteps of local stonemasons. Gourmet walks, beer stops and fairy-tale scenes were also prepared for us. There were also beautiful views, children's paradise and other attractions.
However, we could not experience the well-known and often mentioned Lada's winter in songs, when the landscape is covered with snow and it will become a cross-country paradise. One more reason to come back here during the winter.
Our first stop will be Hrusice. Fairy-tale village, where we visit Lada's memorial, birth house and several places he captured brilliantly in his art. Of course we will not miss the master's colorful life, but you can read more in a week.

The town situated on both banks of the Sázava River is known for its romantic nature trails, the most famous of which is the Posázavská. The romantic character of the landscape is enhanced by the slopes above the river bed and on one of the hills the gem of the Sázava Monastery. The Sázava region also became a place for many glass factories, as crystalline limestone was mined here. One of the resurrected glassworks is Huť František.
