The capital of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is situated in south part of the country, and it is rich on the number of places of interest. Enormous quantity of tourists visit the town daily. It is a home of local citizens as well as of immigrants, who are looking for better standard of living in United Kingdom.
Except of exceptional tourist attractions, London is very important financial and business centre. You can find there numerous institutions of international importance, banks and various brokers´, insurance or accounting companies. The riíver Thames, frequently used for ship transport, flows through the town.
To most visited monuments belongs, no doubt, Buckingham Palace, seat of British Queen. The tourists gather there each day, in order to follow Guards´ change. The other temptations present the Representative Rooms, King´s Gallery as well as King´s stables. The historical centre is also included with Parliament Square and Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. Magnificent Tower of London Citadel, as well as Tower Bridge dominanta, are quite important. Even St.Paul´s Cathedral, containing many precious subjects, is very popular. In past, this Cathedral became very important place of funeral and solemny rites (ceremonies).
London Eye, well-known look out tower wheel, offers an esquisite circular view of London. Trafalgar Square with Nelson Column presents one of important London squares. This column is surrounded with fountains and four gigantic sculptures of lions. On this square, you can find popular National Gallery, with rich collection of pictures. London is a town, offering wide scale of entertainment, various possbilities of using of leasure time, or enabling a space for education and relax. So, everybody could find their hobby. The persons who are interested in arts, could enjoy rare collections, placed in British Museum or National Gallery, mentioned above, in National Portrait Gallery or Tate Modern and Tate Britain Galleries. You can admire there the pictures (portraits) of popular personalities, the works of modern art and the works of contemporaneous art, as well as the works of British and world-known artists.
Natural History Museum is gathering collections from nature-science area, whereas Science Museum makes acquiantance with the world of science and technics. This magnificent town could be proud on marvellous gardens and parks, such as Hyde Park, St.James´ Park, Kensington Gardens or Regent´s Park. During summer months, the people enjoy their relax in grass, some other do sport activities, and another are walking only. Except beautiful blowing flower beds, the visitors could neet various sorts of animals, sone of them are ready to be ready in front of object-glass of your photo camera.
Great number of department stores, shopping centres and small shops are to be found in Oxford Street, most popular street in city centre. This street is daily overcrowded with sorts of people who prefer consum way of life. The shops offer enormous choice of variegated sorts of goods, starting from clothes, books, music shops up to many other interested matters. The street is crossed with big quantity of vehicles and clasical red double-deckers, which form, with their frequent and loud sounding, standard rush hour of this grand-city.
Royal Albert Hall, a power building with circular ground-plan, offers a space for various musical performances or circuses. Just opposite, in Kensington Palace Gardens, there is to be found Albert Memorial, a statue of Prince Albert, a husband of Queen Victoria.
London´s entertainment quarter starts with Picadilly Circuss Square, with many of neon advertisments, including Amor statue. Madamme Tussaud´s Wax Museum belongs to one of London most popular tourist targets.
Nevertheless, London is offering much more places of interest. It is a town of experience, interesting situations, rich on entertainment of any kind and full of incredible possibilities from various areas of life.
