Not so long ago, when a tourist got into Ostrava it was rather a coincidence. Mining and heavy industry was what the city lived of. One was afraid to roam in some district even during daylight. However, the city lives with culture today, there are many interesting sights, and growing number of young people who start new ambitious projects.

You ride down the hill to the valley. Surrounding you are green hills. White buildings of local automobile factory brighten you. These are the halls of Skoda car company. Since 2012, gearboxes have been produced there. However, we go further into the center. The main landmark in Vrchlabi is St Vavrinec church. Its belfry hardly fits within the lens cope of a camera.

Before the inhabitants of Hradec Kralove decide go to see nature beyond their city they should explore some of their boroughs. Novy Hradec Kralove offers everything what town people look for in the Orlice and Krkonose mountains – clean nature, forests, ponds, trails for bikers. There are also trails for people on wheelchair.

We are going to conclude our mini-series on Lednice-Valtice cultural landscape in podivin. It is a small town on the way to D2 freeway. This town doesn´t belong to the compound. However, it would be a missed opportunity to not to see it. A uniqe Jewish wedding ceremonial hall or Januv castle (a Liechtenstein structure imitating historical architectonic styles) are just a few to name some landmarks. We are not completely sure how the name Podivin came into existence…

The region of Bruntal is a quite remote part of the region of Moravia-Silesia. It is situated between the Hruby and Nizky Jesenik mountain ranges. Allegedly, the region of Bruntal is harsh. The inhabitants like to make jokes of themselves by talking about local toothy frogs – a jest of sorts. Don´t worry, however. Come here for there are beautiful places worthy exploring.

It was a forgotten borderline town. Nobody would travel there. Today, it is a growing center of wine where many talented people work. Valtice town is, like Lednice, part of the UNESCO world heritage. Apart from beautiful Renaissance-Baroque chateau or a park, there is the famous Wine Saloon, two beautiful churches, a number of interesting houses, as well as several buildings scattered across the Lednice-Valtice cultural landscape. We recommend you to spend at least couple of hours in Valtice while on you are on your trip across south Moravia. However, the best would be to spend a whole day there.

Cesky Rudolec chateau is called Mala Hluboka. It is situated by the road No. 409 in the southeastern corner of Cesky Rudolec village near Dacice in Ceska Kanada nature park. This area was settled for the purposes of iron, silver, and precious metal mining. This perhaps explains the name of the village – Rudolec.

Only some places can in beauty equal Prague. Lednice-Valtice cultural landscape – especially Lednice chateau – is such a place. It really deserves its place in the UNESCO’s cultural heritage list. Zvikov castle is a symbol of the region of South Bohemia. It has guarded the confluence of the Otava and Vltava rivers since the beginning of the 13th century. Then the castle was standing on a high rock projection and guarded the wild river on the bottom of a deep canyon. Rather docile, the castle has been standing on the side of the Orlicka Dam for last 60 years.
