In the beginning of the year 2016 there will be the last chance for tourists to walk in a vast forest area they have never been to before. There are not even signs for tourists. The closed military area of Brdy will be open to the public. It means that only 90 kilometers from the south end of Prague you will have an opportunity to walk somewhere beyond Rozmital through the woods without stumbling upon any settlement or a busy road!

Only five kilometers from the district capital of Blansko there is Rajec-Jestrebi, a town of 3.5 thousand by the Svitava River. This town is the northern gateway to the Moravian Karst however also a town where a beautiful chateau is located.

Half-way from Plzen to Ceske Budejovice lays Strakonice on the confluence of the Otava and Volynka reviers. The town became famous for its international bagpipe festival, fezs, and “Cezetas” – motorbikes produced by Ceska Zbrojovka. Also, we can find here a preserved medieval castle, beautiful townhall in Reinassance Revival style, couple of medieval houses, or a partial Stonehenge replica. Nature around is also magnificent – Sumava’s foothills, and a vast area of South Bohemian ponds.

Last week we got finally closer to our goal – the fabulous Macocha gorge. First we took a look at it when we were at Dolni Mustek. Then we went up to see its glory from above from Horni Mustek.

Our walk along the Macocha Nature trail led us to the bottom cable car station which was launched in May 1995. We found ourselves at the altitude of about 361 meters. Our goal was Horni Mustek above the Macocha abyss. Horni Mustek is more than 130 meters higher.
