Germany, Nueremberg – For Pretzels and History

It is also an ideal destination for culture lovers, without a doubt the most important local native is Albrecht Dürer, one of the most famous Transalpine Renaissance painters whose preserved house and museum can be found right in the center of the city.
The town was marked by heavy bombing during the war, but in the picturesque, encircled, walled and river-intersected center, many historic buildings were preserved, dominated by a partially preserved, partly reconstructed post-war castle. From its observation tower (which is the oldest building in the city) you can see the contrast between the old city, where time might have stopped, and the bustling modern buildings. An interesting part of the lookout is also panels with period photographs showing the ravaged city at the end of World War II.
However, the greatest reminder of this conflict is certainly the Reichsparteitagsgelände, or the Congress of Party Congresses of the Nazi Party. This gigantic complex of buildings was built on the outskirts of the city with a clear vision. This place was to become a powerful center of political party congresses, and therefore was built here, inter alia, a congress hall (which now serves as a detailed and eye-opening museum documenting the development, peak and demise of Nazi Germany), Zeppelinfeld ) and a huge open area where military parades and sports exercises took place.
The paradox is that in the end only six party congresses took place in the years 1933–1938 and the area was abandoned and forgotten for many years after the war. Today it is one of the most impressive reminders of the power of the Nazi Party in the pre-war and war years.
In addition to the darkest moments of human history, you will also find beautiful grassy corners in the city, especially along the Pegnitz River, which lazily runs through the city center, and the famous Nuremberg sausages that taste best with fresh lye pretzel and bitter Bavarian lager.
