Cappadocia, this unique place on Earth is located on the territory of Turkey, particularly in eastern Anatolia. Thanks to its position over the centuries has become a multiethnic region, where they met the Turks, Armenians, Greeks and Kurds. From history we can learn that the first inhabitants of this rocky mountainous country were the Hittites, and later the Persians conquered this territory, who Alexander the Great got away. The Hellenic period there came Celts.

Cappadocia came under the influence of Roman, later Byzantine and Ottoman Empire. Also, it was settled by, us too well known to the Slavs. Today it is mainly frequented by tourist thanks for hundreds of abandoned churches and natural formations that created the surrounding volcanoes. It is within these volcanic rocks to the local residents built their homes, which is not only protected from the weather, but also in constant battle. They built a whole complex of underground cities, connected by a tangle of alleys and passageways.

In the bosom of nature because of merciless rain here are of rocks creates a fascinating and delightful art theater in the form of rock mushrooms, guarding the strong rounded cones in the middle of dry and arid landscape. Let yourself be carried away for a moment, beautiful images from photographer Albert Russ, who was trying to capture the sometimes bizarre shapes of the rocks of this unique country of the world's nations.
