CZ, Luhacovice – Beautiful Spas and Interesting Surroundings II
Let's start in the region of forest covered mountain ridges an deep valleys. Here you can enjoy green hills slopes, timbered cabins, folk traditions and traditional cuisine. You perhaps somewhat already expect where we are going to go - to Valassko. A part of the Beskydy, Vsetinske Hills, Solan and a ridge of the Javorniky belong to this beautiful region. Thus, there are many beautiful outlooks with amazing vistas. Also you may see wooden churches, observation towers or famous open air museum.
However, accept our invintation to Zlin for now. It is a town of unique functionalist-style architecture. Zlin is situated about 25 kilometers from Luhacovice. Zlin is an important industrial, trade and culture center of east Moravia. Its functionalist look was given to it by Bata, a shoe company which operated in the city for long years. Today, many institution have their seat in former shoe factories. For instance 14|15 Bata Institute, Regional Fine Arts Gallery, the Museum of Southeast Moravia, or Shoe-making museum. galerie výtvarného umění, Muzeum jihovýchodní Moravy či Obuvnické muzeum. The Zlin skyscraper- the building No 21 is another important attraction. There is an observation platform on its 16th floor. From here you can enjoy amazing vista over Zlin and the surroundings. Also, a cozy cafe is situated on the very same floor.
Not too far from the skyscraper you can enjoy a journey around the world in one day. Are you asking how it is possible? Easy! Just visit Lesna, a 19th cnetury chateau with amazing woodcarvings, large collections of oriental porcelaine and an English-style park. Both belong to the most popular Zoo garden in the Czech Republic – Zoo Zlin. In just one day, you can learn about typical animals of different continents. Something unique is possible to experience in Yucatan tropical hall or the Bay of Reys.
Next we would like to recommend you Vizovice - a town with smell of plum brandy. This quint town is gateway to Valassko and also the birth place of Bolek Plivka, the King of Valassko. Vizovice's history is rich and there are many beautiful historic sights around. Tourists can enjoy interesting cultural events and amazing nature around. Vizovicke Trnkobrani is very famous event as well as the Master's of Rock music festival. These lure here many visitors.
Chateau Vizovice is worth visiting. It is a monumental piece of architecture in the style of Louis XVI. Interiors are richyl decorated and outside the chateau there are an English- and French-style parks. Moreover, visitors can taste delicious chocolate made directly in Vizovice at chateau's chocolate factory.
As we talk about food already, I must mention baked goods of Vizovice. Unique figural baked products have been made in Vizovice since the 19th century. Originally, it was produced only for Christmas and Easters. Every figure is made of two basic components (water and flour). And each figure has its symbolic meaning. This baked goods has proven to be great souvenir from Vizovice. Last but not least, you have to visit Distillery Land operated by the world-famous liquor company R. Jelinek. Here you can be part of a guided tours which takes you deep into company's history and liquor production.
We leave Valassko for Slovacko region. Here are situated many historic sights, great folklore, wine, and traditional food. You can find a wine cellar by almost any village and town in Slovacko. Slovacko consists of three wine regions - Slovacko, Velke Pavlovice and Mikulovsko. There are trail focused on wine making crossing the entire Slovacko. The area is famous for many wine-related events, grape harvest, or the ceremonial ramming of a mountain.
Vlcnov certainly must be on your list. This chateau is about 20 kilometers away from Luhacovice. Here you can enjoy the traditional Kings' ride which is listed as a UNESCO heritage. This is one of the most popular fests in the Czech Republic. Young boys on braided horses ride through the village and chant old celebratory verses of their king. During the festival, there are many folklore events such as showings of traditions and customs.
Also, cosnsider sightseeing in Uherske Hradiste, Hostetin, Velehrad, Bata canal, Buchlovice chateau, Buchlov castle and other places.
Last but not least, we would like to invite you to visit quiant land featuring vast fertile fields and protected lush forests – Hana. This region is located in the heart of Moravia. Local climate is very pleasant, it features UNESCO grade landmarks, local delicacies, folklore, rich folk costume, and local dialect.
Ikonou této oblasti je město Kroměříž is an iconic feature of the region. It features unique architectonic sights, marvelous gardens and it is dubbed the Athens of Hana. Other tips for trips include the town of Hostyn or the beautiful cityo f Olomouc. We could add more tips, there is a lot to see. So, should you travel to Luhacovice don't forget to plan to discover the surroundings which offers quite a lot attractive places to see.
