The second largest city in the Czech Republic is home to many landmarks, nature sights or UNESCO-grade architecture. However, it offers a trip to the realm of animals. And we shall take this trip today.
In our journeys in the region of South Moravia we stopped at Adamov, a town situated 12 kilometers from Brno. Surrounded by forests the town is located on the confluence of the Svitava and Krtinsky creek. It has a population of 4.5 thousand.
Let's go together for a 5 km long trail from Karlova Studánka upstream of the Bílá Opava through a unique nature reserve. The river cuts into a deep canyon and forms countless cascades, rapids and waterfalls.
Cerna Hora, a town of about 2000 (20 kilometers from Brno at the edge of Boskovicka Brazda) is situated in the Blansko district. Surrounded with beautiful forests, the town is famous for its brewery. We take a look at other places you shouldn’t miss as well.
The Moravian Karst is undoubtedly the most beautiful area in the Czech Republic. Blansko, a town offering many historical, cultural, nature, and other sights, is located right there. It is also an ideal destination for a trip for couple of days for its great life in culture and perfect sport opportunities.
Today we look again into the beautiful city in the heart of beautiful nature. Yes, we talk about Blansko, the entrance to the Moravian Karst. But it is not only that. It is a place of fascinating sights we take look at on the following lines.
It has been a long time since our last visit to the second largest city in the Czech Republic – Brno. This historical “capital” of Moravia is located on the confluence of the Svratka and Svitava rivers. It has been an important center of culture, justice, and education.
The Moravian metropolis greeted us by a nice sunny day. We set off for some sightseeing. First thing we saw was cathedral of St Peter and Paul.
Through various of paths which are lined with broadleaved trees we reached Spilberk’s entrance gate. The castle is one of Brno’s most precious sights. It has stood on a hill of the same name since 13th century.
Upon visiting Spilberk castle which the main sight in Brno we returned through Spilberk park back in Husova street. Opposite to the park there is a building of the Moravian Gallery, the second largest art museum in the Czech Republic.
We shall continue in our walk in the old streets of Brno. Last time we saw church of St Jacob and also saw the large Svoboda square formally known as Dolni Market. This busy triangle shaped square was pretty noisy and busy when we reached it.
Last time we explored the building of Old Town Hall. Another beautiful sight stands near to it. We got on the historical square of Zelny Trh (Cabbage Market).
Once we introduced you the new interactive exhibition in the Moravian Karst Nature House we move bit further. Today we talk about our starting locality which is called Rocky Mill. This one is unique for many reasons.
We had paid our visit the House of Nature once we reached Skalni mill, a locality near Blansko district town, also thought about as the entrance to the Moravian Karst. We had also seen some of its surrounding. The trail going to the Katerinska cave is right behind this recently opened exhibition.
Only five kilometers from the district capital of Blansko there is Rajec-Jestrebi, a town of 3.5 thousand by the Svitava River. This town is the northern gateway to the Moravian Karst however also a town where a beautiful chateau is located.
Only couple of days ago, a unique interactive exhibition has been opened in the heart of the Moravian Karst (at the meeting point of Suchy and Pusty Zleb) near Skalni Mill. The exhibition take you through the history of this place in a very innovative way.
A trip to Buchlov castle was so enchanting we decided to spend another weekend at Czech castles and chateaus. This time we decided Milotice set closer to us. The chateau is located at the edge of the town bearing the same name.
First time I got into Hradec was when taking pictures in the Orlicke Mountains. It fell in love with the city instantly. I get off my car, looked at the First-Republic houses facades, looked at faces of several people and I knew that I wasn’t here for the last time.
We concluded our walk in Adamov at a restaurant. Then we set off to Josefovske Valley in the lower reaches of Krtinsky Stream about 3 kilometers away. There is a conservation area where one can learn on recent history of the territory
Moravian metropolis has more than a month in addition to a lure and certainly not many things. A little history link omission in the form of tens of thousands of human remains was literally built into an impressive exhibition, which you can´t find anywhere in Central Europe.
City of Brno saved under their houses and sidewalks places that you might not even know they exist. What are these?
Žabovřesky belong to one of the largest part of Brno. Today we will let you know more about it.
If our short stops in some spa towns declared the fact that balneology in the Czech Republic would fail, Luhačovice is a big exception in this respect.
