Rakovník district
King´s town of Rakovník is situated in 60 kms distance from Prague only. It is placed in basin which allures the colonists from old time. Here, there were found the seats of first farmers, including documents about life in stone age. Central Huss Square dominates St.Bartholomew Church. It is late Gothic building from the beginning of 16th century. When you go around, you can see bell-tower of 1495 and Baroque house of Cisterciac Order. Just nearby the church, there is to be found in town´s park Palacky statue, decorated with pieces of petrified woods.
A botanic garden belongs to local school building. It is open for public, except weekends. The educational path leads along Rakovnicky brook. Its water was used by many mills. Apart of this, there were constructed a lot of ponds, new pond is arranged for bathing. This path makes acquiantance with surrounding villages. However, meadows ceased to exist, as a consequence of intensive farming. On several places, you can watch crow-foots, and chrysanthemums. On moistured places, there could be discovered bed-straw.
