On right bank of Labe (Elbe) river, not far distant from the town of Kolín, you find a community of Borky. This countryside was used, first of all, by farmers. They set free the co
untryside of trees, and the inundance regime of Elbe was totally changed. So, meadow-forests were established here, as a consequence of all these changes. On humid places, there are planting alder groves, and pine oak-forests, represented with oak cops on sandy elevations. At the beginning of 19th century, there remained several last places with meadow-forests and oak copse, known as Borky. At the beginning of 20th century, the town of Kolín obtained a part of these forests. Later, this area started to be converted into forests consequently. Borky-area joined the rests of forests and the same name got whole forest complex. So, you can admire here American red-oak, forming nearly 80% of the whole area. Anyway, there is represented here, from local woods: ash-tree, maple, linden-tree, pine, oak, hazel and larch-tree. Even acacia was planted here.
