Observation Tower on Ostredok – sister of tower in Pavcina Lehota
It is not always the most important quality the height of a tower due to the surrounding terrain. Sometimes a tower it just simply well put. This is precisely the case with wooden tourist observation tower on Ostredok in the Low Tatras area, in Jasna. Despite it seems that 2000 meters above the sea level might be not enough in this part of the Low Tatras. The opposite is true. You will be amazed when looking from its top. In good weather you can admire especially the northern side of the ridge of the Low Tatras. You will see peaks like Chopok, Dumbier or Deres and Polana.
A wooden 9 meters high tower on Ostredok lools exactly like tower in Ziarce in Pavcina Lehota . It stands on the south side of largely deforested ridge that runs in the middle of Demanovska valley .
How you can get there ?
The observation tower you see from the parking lot in Jasna – Bila Pout disctrict, where you can either bring your own car or transported here by shuttle bus. From the parking lot it is necessary to issue the yellow trail leading through the entire ridge Ostredok. A pleasant walking pace to get to the tower in about 20 minutes, so we could do with your happy children. In winter, the output may take a few minutes longer, depending on the height of snow packed or icy snow layer.
How you can prolong your trip?
If you want to prolong your walk in Tatra nature, you can continue along the yellow trail, which leads you to the SNP Memorial . If you continue along the yellow even further, you get to symbolic cemetery of the victims of the Low Tatras where you can take time to relax and spend quiet reverent memory of all who perished in the mountains. There are dozens of tables placed the names of those who died just in the Low Tatras.
Another point of interest lying near the observation tower on Ostredok worth a visit at any time of the year is Vrbicke Lake . The lake is situated several hundred meters from a parking lot in Jasna. You may terminate your trip such as a glass of delicious hot tea or mulled endowed in Nicolas’ Cottage on the shores of the lake.

Everything seems more beautiful and more quite because the tourist season is long gone and the winter season haven’t even began. Nature changed its clothes to more colorful one and you can see animals where you wouldn’t expect them – right on a tourist pathway.
