Slovenia: Exceptionally Beautiful Bled Gorge
Published: 13.2.2013
If you ever visit Slovenia, do not miss a visit of a beautiful Bled Gorge that is located only few kilometers from well-known Bled.
The last trip we took during our several days long stop in Bled was an easy walk with a goal to reach an exceptionallybeuatiful Bled Gorge (in Slovenian Soteska Vintgar).
Jak do soutěsky dostat
Since this natural gem lays only 4 kilometers southwest from Lake Bled, nearby which we were accommodated, we decided to walk there. There is also a village named Vintgar, not particularly interestant however, a bus goes there regularly from Bled. So if you prefer not to take a long walk, you can go there by a bus or by your own car. A public parking lot is located right by the entrance to the Bled Gorge. We chose to take a walk on a road that led through the Podhom village. It was a pleasant but a bit longer walk than we initially expected. On the way we had had some beautiful views over the landscape or the Bled Castle. A not so much frequented road took us to a place where some lady in a wooden stand sold tickets to the Bled Gorge.

You pay many in Slovenia for beauty
The Bled Gorge , which is a part of Triglav National Park , belongs to the largest tourist attractions in the area and its entrance is feed as well as many other natural attractions in Slovenia. Fortunately, it was only few Euro per capita, so our vacation budget wasn’t harmed much

When by the box office we bought a nice fridge magnet and were surprised a large concentration of people. Despite the summer season was nearing its end the entrance and the Bled Gorge as a whole was simply overcrowded. So the only con of this amazing natural wonder was unbelievable number of people.

The Bled Gorge is 1,6 kilometers long and in its end there is a 16 meters high noisy Šum Falls. Even on this side of the Bled Gorge there is a box office that has even a snack bar and a small shop with souvenirs. Tourists move in the whole gorge on small wooden bridges above the water. We met also an organized group of retirees, Asian women wearing only flip-flops, or a mum who had one child in a child seat and other was holding firmly her hand. So we sincerely recommend this walk to everyone who loves the nature regardless of age or physical condition.

Next time we will move to a beautiful Lake Bohinj and will visit Savica Falls - another part of Slovenia that didn’t disappoint us

We woke up to beautiful, however, calm morning. We ate something, checked our backpack if there were things necessary since we intended to spend the whole day out, and we set out to the lake. That day we decided to visit a church on the island in the middle of the lake and spend the afternoon in the town.
