The night is setting upon the land, streets are going alive – with food. When I arrived at there, I was not hungry. But now I would eat just everything. Hundreds of variations of noodles and rice, various sea creatures, great grilled meat, lots of fruits and veggies. The Chinese Town in Bangkok chewed me and swallowed me.
When the Chinese start to moving in some place, they shape it to what they like. Yet every Chinese Town has the spirit of its host city so every such town is an original. The Chinese Town in Bangkok has Thai calm and positive and kind people. When I stepped off a tuk-tuk for the first time, it was clear I was somewhere else. This wasn’t just because of Chinese lantern, inscriptions, gold statues, and tea.
Chinese are the most able traders in the world. It means that Chinese Towns around the world are bit wealthier than the rest of the city. Still, you can feel a sense of community in them, well it is still rather a small town in the middle of a big city. You can buy there everything – motorbikes, jewelries, and gold.
Many people there speak Chinese, even Thais who work there or sell food. There are many tourists on main roads, and Chinese make good oney of them. The rest of the town consists of a labyrinth of narrow streets where you find hardly any foreigner. I am surrounded with handcarts selling stuff, rikshas, children, dogs, and cats. I walk around many groups of locals talking with a cup of tea. I get myself deeper into the unknown.
Many doesn’t understand a word in English. Still, we manage to understand one another. If not, one traveller taught me one thing – a picture vocabulary without words. Just show an illustration of what you need. Sometimes I try to find the right picture in the tablet. Even in Asia mobile internet is everywhere.
A Chinese temple is easy to be recognized from a Thai temple. Decorated entrance gate with a typical rooftop, lanterns, and red color… To my surprise, I haven’t encountered any temple where would you have to pay for entrance. Big city noise hardly gets inside. Thereore, I make use of one of the shrines to rest. I watch a monk talking to other students in Chinese, probably giving them wisdom. I am very sorry that I don’t understand them.
I could walk there endlessly. I would also pay great deal of money for precious teas, pottery, and great food.. Chinese Town in Bangkok is a place that is under the list “return soon”. This time, however, I have to return to the hostel. Thus, I follow the map to get to a train station where I enter subway and return to my shelter.

The shape of the island's promontory resembles an elephant's trunk, and it was the elephant's head that inspired its naming, even though the elephants did not originally live in the area.
When I was arriving at the center of Krabi province I didn’t expect much. Guidebooks don’t mention it at all and it is rather an obligatory stop for many travelers while transporting to local islands or to nearby Ao Nang resort.
The capital of Thailand belongs to largest cities in southeast Asia as there live 8 million people. Cheap flight transportation makes it a natural place from where to start travels to the region including countries like Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, or Malaysia. In my opinion, too bad than many travelers spend there a day or two and move on.
