Except by plane, you can get there by night trains from Bangkok. You board a train at about 8pm and wake up in the morning in the destination. Just be warry as the tickets are usually sold out, so book yours at least a day prior to the departure.
I recommend you to spend couple of days in the capital which will surprise you by its colorfulness and diversity. The most popular places for its visitors are Buddhist temple compounds, and the Royal Palace . You certainly should pay a visit to one of city’s large markets where you can taste the best of Thai cuisine. Next I recommend you a boat trip on the river, walk in the Chinese town, or visiting some famous bar there.

When I was arriving at the center of Krabi province I didn’t expect much. Guidebooks don’t mention it at all and it is rather an obligatory stop for many travelers while transporting to local islands or to nearby Ao Nang resort.
