SK, A Trip Across the Villages of Liptov
If you travel to explore the north of Slovakia, we recommend you to begin in Liptov region. Na zjazde diaľnice D1 - Liptovský Hrádok zíďte na cestu 537 a o pár minút sa dostanete do podhorskej obce Vavrišovo, ktorá začala písať svoje dejiny už v roku 1286.
The village turns into a battlefield every year. The Battle of Vavrisov is remembered annually as it was a clash between the royal army and the troops of Rakoci. The battle fook place in 1709 and influenced heavily the life in the village. Should strive to learn more about this event, we sure to visit local museum. The building is easy to find thanks to its observation platform.
Vavrisovo region is a popular area for mushrooming. Sights such as the prayer room of the Baptist brotherhood completed in 1890 or the Evangelical church of Augsburg Creed's church completed in 1884 are just some of the sights you may visit here. It was here where Slovakia's very first independent baptist church chorus was founded.
As Vavrisovo is a place of start for trips to the High Tatras, it is also a popular spot for photographers. They often take pictures of local breathtaking landscape with its grandiose mountains. Pribylina is a neighbor village.
The town was founded around the year 1332. It offers one of the best vistas over Krivan mountain. Moreover, there is a Romanesque revival evangelical church, the St Catharina of Alexandria church in Gothic revival style, or a baptist church prayer room. Also worthy of note are memorial plates to theoretician of culture Jan Lajciak. He co-founded modern Slovakian orientalism. Another plate is devoted to Jan Rumann, an important character in the Slovakian nation of the early 20th century.
Yet the Museum of Liptov Village is undoubtedly the greatest attraction in Pribylina. It features authentic contemporary architecture and a coherent vista over Povazska Forest Railroad and breeding of the Hucul pony. Alpine enthusiasts head to the edge of the village to Rackova valleycar camping site. From this point people make trips to Rackova and Jamnicka valleys.
A visit to both towns might be a nice addition to a vacation in the Tatra mountains. Both villges feature intersting sights brining old history back to life in the heart of beautiful nature.
