Last days of travels with Dominika we spent at the city of Örebro, the history of which dates back to the 15th century.
It was easy to count hours before the departure of the girls (and our as well). Still, we intended to utilize them as much as possible regardless the unbearable heat in Beijing.
Mauna Kea or in English White Mountain is the main destination in our today’s article.
When we left the East Slovakian Museum we set off for a walk along Kosice’s pride – Main Street. In this street, the majority of the most important sights is located.
Upon seeing the marvels of architecture in Blansko – the wooden church, chateau, Jezek’s bridge – today our goal are not only some other sghts. We also talk about the social life in the city.
Many people see the Slovakian capital only when passing by in train, bus, or car while travelling from the Czech Republic to Hungary or vice versa. But it is really worth it to spend a while in the city of half-million on the Danube. Bratislava has changed. It is no longer boring, grey city. It has been gradually removing the damage done by the communist regime and life crawls back to the city.
Indonesia: No It Did Not Burn Down IV – Java: Getting Up to Bromo Volcano and the Madakaripura Waterfalls
We almost freezed on Penanjakan platform. We enjoyed the view over volcanic terrain and were on our way in jeep back to Tengger’s crater flat bedrock. Then we go afoot (under great volcanic conditions) to Bromo’s edge. The volcano is still active.
While travelling along coastal trail from Ljungskile to Uddevalla, we saw Halle-Hunneberg forests, Västergötland region. It was tiresome to carry heavy backpacks which in turn didn’t bring us much joy when travelling. Therefore, we left them at a visitors’ center.
We survived the trip on the Great Wall of China. We liked it but ahead would be waiting pre-departure preparations. We were busy packing, me and B. As it turned out, packing one year worth of life in China to one coffer is far from easy and takes much more than just one afternoon. Therefore, I took T and P to their guest house and left them to take care of themselves.
The world famous Hawaiian islands evoke contentment, peace, just all pleasant feelings you experience while in a vacation.
Once we visited Blansko chateau and St Martin church we set off to a wooden structure. We spotted it when we observed the town. This structure is a church which actually doesn’t fit in the city’s architecture.
You can literally cross a bridge from Copenhagen, Denmark to Sweden. But it is quite a long bridge. One may think both cities would be similar due to small distance separating them but you couldn’t be more wrong. Malmö has different feeling – it is calmer, more monumental, and more adult. You will feel its industrial history as well as present high-tech direction.
Trip to Bromo volcano in Bromo Tengger Semer National Park is probable one of the best travel experiences in Indonesia. The trip is highly organized and most touristic. Despite it is very expensive you will long remember it as a wonderful experience.
We commenced the hiking part of our Swedish journey “deep in the north”. It was in the territory of Bohuslän which is eleven hours from Göteborg. Prices are same in Sweden as in the Czech republic. Nominally, at least. The most expensive part of our journey is travelling itself (had you your own food from the Czech Republic). However, there are many train and bus lines in the country.
We managed climbing up the hill very well. We walked through a small village. Some watched us, some obviously had met tourists efore and waved at us. Once we reached a crossroad we suddenly saw its contours. And we also recognized contours of a small shop at the crossroads. It wasn’t overpriced. Surprisingly. We refilled our water and sugar supplies (popsicles). If there exists something like an addiction on popsicles, I was an addict in China.
Today we visit a truly exotic destination – southwest Pacific – the Salomon Sea where you can find the Salomon Islands which cover an area of 28 thousand square kilometers. Only half a million people live there.
The metropolis of the east welcomed us with open hands. We saw its most beautiful thing – the Gold Treasure of Kosice. We inspected it thoroughly and with great deal of enthusiasm. Then we moved on to see other interesting galleries in the museum.
Today we look again into the beautiful city in the heart of beautiful nature. Yes, we talk about Blansko, the entrance to the Moravian Karst. But it is not only that. It is a place of fascinating sights we take look at on the following lines.
Flowers, blossoming trees, benches, small lanterns, puffy bears, and birds singing. People walk slowly along gravel paths. You can see children, grandpas, grandmas – it doesn’t matter. All are enjoying this calm place. Were there not tombs with Danish names I wouldn’t even notice that I am at a large cemetery. It rather seems the tombs were placed there accidentally.
In our last article you learned more about Mt Muria, the holy mountain. We got there accidentally as we had different reasons why we traveled to Muria peninsula. There is a ferry on the northwestern coast (it departs from Jepara town) and it transports passengers to Karimunjawa National Park. We set aside two days because the ferry can cancel its trip due to huge waves. However, even two days extra were not enough.
Eighteen kilogram backpack on our backs were bent me and Dominika down at a station. We were looking forward to Swedish dream, a month worth of travelling on our own. A yellow bus was the means of our transport from Brno to Göteborg. After almost 20 hours of comfortable ride we got off the bus to see seagulls, ferry two ferry boats and cranes idling at the port. Visitor centers were buoys giving us always necessary information in the Swede’s second largest city. The first thing we actually did there was a visit at one such a center. Maps, leaflets, information – this is tourist’s fodder. One even doesn’t realize how remote is the land he trod on. Especially when passersby smile at him/her when he/she asks for directions. The smiles were still there regardless where we were.
Our great journey was about to end. But at that moment it still seemed we would travel for couple of more weeks. Imagine a group of four ragged students waiting for a bus while sitting on cobble stone. We were hoping for it to come any minute… Yeah, any minute…
In the last part (for now) of our series on Tasmania we take a look to the Bay of Fires or climb Cradle Mountain.
We haven’t visited Slovakia’s second largest city for quite a long time. We cme upon a decision to change this. We packed our things, start our car and drove to the east.
The Moravian Karst is undoubtedly the most beautiful area in the Czech Republic. Blansko, a town offering many historical, cultural, nature, and other sights, is located right there. It is also an ideal destination for a trip for couple of days for its great life in culture and perfect sport opportunities.
