CZ, Vestec – a village offering active relaxation
In the flat and relatively intensively cultivated agricultural landscape there is the village of Vestec, the first written mention of which dates back to 1360, then still bearing the name Véska. It was a serf village belonging to the Kostelec Castle, later the Dolní Břežany manor until the abolition of serfdom by the Archbishopric of Prague. In the 1980s the village was part of the neighbouring town of Jesenice and since 2003 it has been part of the administrative district of Černošice. The village also includes the former settlement of Šátalka.
The transport accessibility is more than good thanks to the so-called Vestecká spojka, which is a part of the D0 motorway (Prague ring road) and in the future will connect with the D1 motorway. There are even plans for a metro station on the northern edge of the village. These plans and the overall location make Vestec one of the attractive suburban locations. Interestingly, the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and Charles University have built a state-of-the-art biotechnology centre (BIOCEV) here, where over 560 scientists, students and technical and administrative staff work.
From the tourist point of view, on the edge of the original and modern residential development, there is a large sports and recreational area with the dominant Vestecky pond. The area, which is still under construction, includes several cycle paths, a planetary nature trail, a nature park with many play elements, a football pitch, an outdoor workout area and a playground.
Romantic souls can stroll along the wooden piers crisscrossing the surface of Vestec Pond, take a photo, take a picture with a waterman, sit on the multiple viewpoints or stroll in the vast meadow among the relatively newly planted orchard.
More than two and a half thousand (2,700) Vestec village offers truly amazing scenery along with active relaxation in the arms of nature, which you should definitely experience and see.
