SR: Turčiany Garden - A Rare Paradise To The North Of Slovakia SR: Turčiany Garden - A Rare Paradise To The North Of Slovakia
Published: 26.7.2012
One of the most beautiful parts of Slovakia, is situated between the mountains Velká and Malá Fatra. From the north it bordered by a national cultural city of Slovaks – Martin and from the south by Turčianské Teplice, spa town. The area or region is called Turčianská kotlina (basin), in older sources known as Turčianská zahrádka (garden).
This name eloquently describes region full of beautiful flowering meadows, pastures intermittent streams, creeks and even rivers. It is surrounded by large mountains that protect its natural fragility. The Turks can learn about nature and nature trails to walk. And there are not enough. Among the most interesting perhaps are the Turks Wetlands, where an original diversity, whether plant or animal community and trail Klášterská meadows, which is important from the botanical and ornithological point of view. But probably for most of us in this field is the most interesting tourism. This is really rich, it offers stunning scenery, which you can enjoy the output should be thick and sharp peaks, Martin Hole or climb up to both Fatra Krivan. For those who like monument, Turiec offers a rich architectural history, whether in the form of the largest open-air museum of folk architecture of the Slovak Republic or the Slovak matrix through buildings, and a tour of the ruins of several medieval castles. In addition to these options the region offers relaxation in the thermal springs as well as active or relaxing on a bicycle, a dense network of cycle paths.

City of Martin
The centre of social life and most important city of Turce is city of Martin. For us - Slovaks has great national and cultural significance. There is home for a national cultural institution Matica Slovak, Slovak Chamber Theatre, the Slovak National Library, Turciany gallery and a number of other institutions and museums nationwide. There are also National Historic Landmark cemetery where are buried many famous personalities. Apart from the monuments and institutions can we as visitors enjoy the atmosphere of the bustling centre full of shops and cafes, a cultural-musical performances that take place here year round.
The bea
uty of the area
No need to go far, and as a flick of a magic wand to get to the most beautiful valleys of Turčiany, due to which is a region Turiec known. Skiers certainly know Jasenská and Valčianská dolina (Valley), tourists know Gaderská, Necpalská or Blatnická dolina. Adventurous and romantic nature has the opportunity to spend a weekend in the ruins of weakness, or in a church in Záturčí. Certainly we should not miss to see the highest waterfall in the Small Fatra - Sutovský waterfall, or rare archaeological-paleontological site - Mažárna cave, but only from the outside because it is not accessible to the public. All this and much more is offered by this "garden of fascinating nature".

Turčiany Basin due to its scenic location and beauty is a paradise for lovers of nature. Rivers and streams full of fish are a paradise for fishermen. High steep peaks in contrast to the low hills, attract tourists and rich fauna hunters again. One word told Turiec region is a place for all people of good will and lovers of natural beauty.
