Lower Austria: By Bike through Diverse Nature
These days we received a new bike map of Lower Austria. Except of 7 TOP trails, there are bike trails suitable for families with small children. Also, you can find there routes for more demanding bikers. And, last but not least, there are new tips for star treks with places where are attractions and adventurous places.
We did not hesitate and planned a family trip. We would follow routes that are diverse. We planned our route across low hill, along picturesque Danube, through virgin nature to historical sights with cultural landmarks.
The map inspired us and gave us information about features of individual trails such as difficulty, length, or elevation. We even found couple of good tips on accommodation, restaurants, wine cellars etc..
The so-called star trips by bike go through seven very secure top bike trails of Lower Austria that ensure carefree biking fun. It will get you to other attractions and service facilities focused on bikers. The following theme trails are available:
Danube: Bike and boat cruise (56 km)
Interesting road from Marbach through Wachau valley: along vineyards, romantic Dürnstein castle ruins, until you reach the symbol of the region – Dürnstein abbey. By boat you can get against the stream up to baroque cultural world heritage – Melk abbey. Eventually, you return by bike back to Marbachu.
Weinviertel: Fauna and flora (44 km)
Along the Kamp-Thaya-March trail you would ride from Retz to Hardegg and to Thayatal national park. A borderline bridge will take you to to a castle and a clock tower. You can get back to Retz along nice road lined with meadows and forests.
Traisental: Bus and ZOO (45 km)
The trek begins in bike bus that comfortably transports tourists to Kernhof. There, you can find Weißer ZOO with unique camel theatre and a real wonder: white Bengal tigers. Then mount your bikes and ride along the Traisen river back to Wilhelmsburgu.
Waldviertel: Cheese and swamps (34 km)
The bike trail of Wasserlandschafts-Radweg, Waldviertel will take you from Gmünd to Heidenreichstein where you can admire local cheese industry. Before your return to Gmünd in the center of the nature park of UnterWasserReich and at Hochmoor, you can admire diverse flora.
Vídeňské Alpy: Zámek a železnice (38 km)
When you arrive from Linsberg Asia Therma spa, Bad Erlach you continue along the Schwarz to Reichenau. At the foot of Rax, you can admire a mine in Grillenberg. The final destination here is Wartholz chateau with its famous gardens. As the means to get back the railroad might be used.
Minding our children we only chose selected trails. We marked free days in our schedules and we are already looking forward to share with you our impressions. As we have already made couple of trips in Lower Austria, we know that the trails there are top notch. This allows bikers to enjoy local landscape.
