Strážov Hills - Slovakia

Nucleus Strážov Hills Mountain Range is situated at the border of West and Central Slovakia, in Trenčín and Žilina Regions, in Bánovce nad Bebravou, Bytča, Ilava, Považská Bystrica, Prievidza, Púchov, Trenčín and Žilina districts. The complex belongs to Fatra-Tatra area, forming a part of Internal West Carpathian Mountains.

The village of Lietava lies 12 km southwest of the district and regional town of Žilina, above which towers the ruins of one of the largest castles in Slovakia - Lietava Castle. This national cultural monument, together with other pottery finds in the Lietava Cave in the Farská dolina valley, proves the history of the settlement of the municipality dating back to the Middle Bronze Age (1500-700 BC).

Northeast of the seat of the Trenčín Region is Dubnica nad Vah. This town of more than 25 thousand people gained its municipal status only relatively recently, in 1960, and it is also the largest Slovak town that is not a district town, as it falls under the Ilava district.

Today we set off on the wanderings in Slovakia near the village of Ladce, which is known mainly thanks to the cement plant (it was built in 1889). This is also related to the natural dominant in the form of the highest peak of Butkovské Parallel Bars - Mount Butkov, which has been conquered for decades to release its wealth in the form of limestone.
