Canada, USA: Rocky Mountains, or Rockies
When one says the Rocky Mountains do you know what mountains he is talking about? The so called Rockies embellish western part of North America.
The mountain range lines the east of the foot of Cordillera. The mountain range goes from north west to south east. From Alaska to Mexico. It is located in two countries - Canadu and the USA. The mountains are located in Canadian territories of British Columbia and Alberta. In the United States, from the north, it goes through Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah and New Mexico. The highest mountain of the Rockies is Mount Elbert (4 401 m)- USA, Colorado.
In the Canadian part of the Rockies, the highest mountain is Mount Robson (3 959 m). It is situated in British Columbia, near Alberta. If you come to British Columbia from Alberta, do not forget that there is different time zone at the foot of Mount Robson. You would have to move your clock one hour backward.
Mount Robson Provincial Park is located in the area of Mount Robson. It is a mountain with characteristic shape. This mountain is the most photographed object onHighway 16. Right at Mount Robson by the road there is Campground. Its camping spaces are build to the shape of spiral. The most popular hike in this park is ascend to Berg Lake.
It is not a trip for one day but for couple of days. While on the trip you sleep in camps along the trail - Kinney Lake campground, Whitehorn campground, Marmot campground, Berg Lake campground, etc. You go along couple of lakes, waterfalls, and cross small and large bridges. Right now we are in Mount Robson and the weather there is really bad thus making it unable for us to take the trip.
Larg part of the Rocky Mountains is protected area. Some national parks are located in the Canadian part of the Rockies: Jasper National Park, Banff National Park, Yoho National Park, Kootenay National Park a Waterton Lakes National Park. Four parks are located in the US: Glacier National Park, Yellowstone National Park, Grand Teton National Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. We have already mentioned some of them in our previous articles.

Toronto is one of the most sought-after Canadian cities in the Czech Republic, as it is located in the eastern part of the country, and is therefore a few hours closer to us than cities in the west. From the Czech Republic you can get to Toronto by direct flight from Prague. You will probably arrive at Toronto International Pearson Airport, which is a larger airport and serves most flights to and from Europe. There is another smaller Toronto Island airport in Toronto, but it is used more for domestic flights and flights to nearby cities in the USA.
Vancouver Island is in the Pacific Ocean. It lies near Vancouver near its shore. It is also part of British Colombia.

Are you of excellent fitness? Are you tourist that really enjoys it? Regardless the two options, we have a trip that will give you the best view of the town of Jasper and gorgeousness of the national park of the same name surrounding it. The hike is to the Mt. Whistlers (2466 m).
When we asked at tourist information center, Whistler, where to hike in the area, the recommendations of the lady at the reception were same as the recommendations we got from our friends. They knew the area around Whistler very well. The weather got much better after two days. Therefore we decided for the most difficult trip in the area – to Wedgemount Lake located high in the mountains.
Another great place of Jasper NP is about 29 km southwards off the town of Jasper. You will get there by following an ascending road going through dense forest. There are many turns and a parking lot at the end in 1762 m. There starts the Trail below Mount Edith Cavell.

Mountain village of Whistler is to be found in western Canada (BC). It is built to the middle of forest surrounded by high mountains. This place used to be possessed by other creatures – black bears. Righteously so they peak into the village. Simply put: Whistler is the land of bears.
One of the roads in the Banff National Park where you wont meet more than several dozens of people are roads around Bow Lake. We arrived at lake at 7:00 and parked our car by Num-Ti-Jah Lodge (there is a parking lot with dry toilets). Mountains were mysterious, still in morning mist, and sun was hidden behind mountain peaks. Local atmosphere was silent, and really freezing – hat and gloves are necessary.
